STUD FEE $4,000.00
Astor, FL — Stockade Seelster p,2,1:49.3s; 3,1:48.4s ($1,279,127) has been retired and will stand in Ohio beginning in 2025.
The million-dollar winner was the Dan Patch 2-year-old Pacing Colt of the Year in 2022 and holds the distinction of being a back-to-back O’Brien Award winner in Canada, being crowned both 2-year-old and 3-year-old Pacing Colt of the Year.
As a freshman, the colt won eight of 11 starts, winning the Metro Pace and going undefeated in Ontario Sire Stakes action and winning the Super Final.
Last year as a sophomore, he added wins in the Somebeachsomewhere, multiple Ontario Sire Stake Gold legs, the North America Cup consolation and the Progress Pace eliminination, as well as runner-up finishes in the Hempt and both the elimination and $600,000 final of the Breeders Crown (to Confederate).
Trained by Dr. Ian Moore and driven throughout much of his career by Jody Jamieson, his driver had this to say about him: “Stockade Seelster has the deepest set of lungs on a horse that I’ve ever driven. There was just no end to him. He was always willing and able to win!”
Stockade Seelster will be managed by Cornerstone Stock Farm (Jeff Fought) and will stand at Winterwood Farm in Bellville, Ohio, under the watchful eye of Mark Adams for a fee of $4,000. Being a son of State Treasurer (Real Desire) out of a Big Jim mare, the stallion brings the ideal outcross pedigree to the exploding Ohio breeding program at an opportune time.
With regard to bringing the horse to Ohio, Fought stated, “Stockade Seelster represents a tremendous opportunity for the breeders in the expanding Ohio program. Stallion quality in the state is strong, and this horse fits in perfectly with his credentials and pedigree. Ohio is very heavy on quality Somebeachsomewhere line stallions, and this opens the door for Stockade Seelster to breed the mares from that sire line. Mares by Downbytheseaside, Captaintreacherous, Somebeachsomewhere and so many other lines will fit this horse perfectly.”
